WILDWOOD — The South Jersey Wrestling Association will host the eighth annual “War at the South Jersey Shore” National Folkstyle Wrestling Championships in the Oceanfront Arena at the Wildwood Convention Center on Fri., April 22 and Sat., April 23.
This two-day event will feature a youth wrestling tournament with 50 weight classes spread across four age divisions and a high school division with 16 weight classes. Last year’s event drew over 1,600 wrestlers from all over the country.
The 2011 “War” will again feature expanded wrestling hours, a new mat layout for additional seating and split sessions on both Friday and Saturday. Weigh-ins for wrestlers will take place at the Wildwoods Convention Center on Thurs., April 21 from 5-9 p.m.
Competitions begin at 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Electronic bout boards will be available to follow the tournament live over the internet. Awards will be presented immediately after completion of wrestling in each bracket and certification of results.
Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $5 for students 6 and older, and children under 6 are free.
