COURT HOUSE – The Middle Township girls’ lacrosse team won their first ever South Jersey Group I title on May 25. The Lady Panthers entered the S.J. Group I tournament as the top seed and defeated second-seed Camden Catholic 17-8 in the championship.
The win also marked head coach Jackie Scuderi’s 100th career win.
State goal scoring leader senior Bridget Ruskey led the team with six goals and three assists. Senior teammates Jenna Herlihy and Allison Hunter were key offensive players, scoring four and three goals, respectively. Freshmen Kira Sides tallied two goals while Maddie Barber and Aubrey Hunter each added one. Maggie Slavin made nine saves in net.
The Lady Panthers (17-2) will continue to the Group I state semifinal on Tuesday against the Central Group I winner Mount St. Mary’s at Toms River North High School at 4:30pm.
