Lower’s Mendyk Breaks School Record & More Wednesday Results

Lower Cape May's Chase Mendyk broke the program record for career goals scored in boys lacrosse on May 8 in the team's game at Ocean City.

Lower Cape May senior boys lacrosse player Chase Mendyk scored his 132nd career goal in May 8’s game at Ocean City, breaking the program record. Mendyk received a pass from teammate Chuckie Magill to score the milestone goal.
The previous record of 131 career goals was held by 2012 graduate and current assistant coach Mike Frankenfield.
The Caper Tigers (6-7) also had goals from Luke Lare and Jack McNeal in the 15-3 loss.

In girls lacrosse action, Middle Township won 18-2 at Oakcrest. Aubrey Hunter led the Lady Panthers with six goals with three assists. Ocean City won 15-2 at Lower Cape May. Ashley Devlin, Anna Devlin and Shannon O’Reilly each had a hat trick for the Red Raiders. Maya Critchfield had two goals for the Lady Tigers.
In softball action, Wildwood earned a 17-7 home win against Pleasantville. Leah Benichou and Michelle Lugo each had two RBIs for the Lady Warriors.
At the Cape-Atlantic League Golf Championships, four Cape May County golfers placed in the top ten at McCullough’s Emerald Golf, a par-72 course. Ocean City’s Jack Sullivan placed third with 77 while teammates Josh Brown and Issac Royster tied for fifth with Lower Cape May’s Kolby Carter with an 82. St. Augustine Prep’s Drue Nicholas won the tournament with a low 73.
