SOUTH SEAVILLE– Municipalities around the county celebrated National Night Out Tue., Aug 2, presented by local law enforcement agencies
Dennis Township kicked off their annual National Night Out celebration “giving neighborhood crime and drugs a going away party”.
The successful event that brought hundreds of people had a small town feel. The Townships three fire departments lined the walkway to the field with their firetrucks. Township resident, Senator Jeff Van Drew shook hands with constituents; neighbors mingled and kids smiled as they wondered freely playing games and enjoying the quiet rural life of Dennis Township.
National Night Out has been held nationally since 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.
The event is meant to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, town watch/Neighborhood Watch, and other anti-crime efforts.
