SEA ISLE CITY — A representative from The Philadelphia Flyers, a team that came very close to winning the 2010 Stanley Cup Championship, will be in Sea Isle City On Thurs,, July 22, to host “Hooked on Hockey,” a two-hour clinic for boys and girls interested in learning about the exciting sport of hockey.
This event is being hosted by The Sea Isle City Recreation Department.
The clinic begins at 5 p.m. at the Dealy Field Hockey Court, 59th and Central Avenue. Children should wear sneakers or other comfortable athletic shoes to this event; no skates are required.
Participants will enjoy learning hockey fundamentals and sportsmanship at the feet of Bob “The Hound” Kelly, a member of the 1970s Flyers Stanley Cup Championship team.
Kelly, who is also known as the Flyers “Ambassador of Hockey,” encourages each player with positive reinforcement and plenty of good cheer. He will also give each child a Mylec hockey stick, which the children keep as souvenirs – and also so they can later practice the hockey skills they acquired during Hooked on Hockey.
There is a $5 entry fee per child for this event, and a Rain Date is scheduled for July 23. For additional information, phone 609-263-0050.
