COURT HOUSE — An energized group of local volunteers, led by Realtors Chip French of Avalon and Ann Leahy of Stone Harbor, has re-launched the Habitat Cape May Golf Tournament scheduled for June 21 at Stone Harbor Golf Club.
“We are celebrating our 20th anniversary as a Habitat affiliate in Cape May County in 2010, and we have embarked on an ambitious plan to build a minimum of two houses per year in partnership with local families in need,” said Habitat Board President Kathie Steiger, senior vice president of residential lending at Cape Bank.
“Re-launching our golf tournament is an important part of our campaign to fund this accelerated building program, and to establish a more visible presence in the local Cape May community,” she said.
The two-man, better ball format tournament kicks off with a check-in and warm up beginning at noon, and a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Registration is only $135 per golfer, including a post tournament cocktail party and hors d’oeuvres, sponsored by Pembroke North in Wayne, Pa.
“This is a unique opportunity for the general public to play this world-class private course in support of a great cause—Habitat for Humanity. We are working hard to build an A+ caliber annual tournament here at Stone Harbor GC that will provide funding to Habitat Cape May for years to come,” French explained.
This year’s tournament features prizes at all par 3 holes, as well as top-notch tee gifts, including $25 Callaway gift certificates supplied by hole-in-one sponsor Burke Motor Group. Tee gift supplies are limited—register online at www.habitatcapemaygolf.org or call Habitat Cape May at (609) 463-0244.
