VILLAS — Holiday time found boys and girls from South Jersey in third to eighth grades, competing in the Greater Cape May Elks/Tom Beheler Basketball Tournament in Lower Township, New Jersey. The tournament is 4 years old and this year had the best turnout of teams. Hopefully next year will be even bigger.
Awarded the First Place Trophy for 7th and 8th grade boys was Upper Township , coached
by Tom Jamison and Brian McQuarrie. Team members are Sydney Unsworth, Keegan Alvord, Jacob McQuarrie, Tommy Jamison, Parker Bristol, Peyton Bristol, Bobby Shallcross, Josh Rolls, Greg O’Connell, Harry Pfeifle and Jack Halbruner.
First Place Trophy winners for 5th & 6th grade boys were the Middle Township Panthers, coached by Sean Dougherty, Jim Barttleson and Charlie McNeil. Team members are Sean Dougherty, Kyle Barttleson, Jalil White, David Zarfatti, Ethan Stokes, DeShawn Lopez, Donald Hatcher, John John Ballman, Charlie McNeil, Tavis McCray, Ethan Bossiet,
Landon Shivers and Jonathan Lopez.
Girls First Place Trophy for 7th and 8th graders was awarded to Linwood, coached by Joe Schoen. Team players participating were Georgia Schoen, Francesca Geromini, Gabby Boggs, Emily Dirks, Aisliny Cook, Emily Zieres and Emily Faragler.
Dennis Township Lady Bulldogs was awarded the First Place Trophy for 5th and 6th grade girls, coached by Jim Herliky and Courtney Herliky. Team members are Madison Barber, Kate Herliky, Ava Frie, Morgan Kern, Raine DeRose, Kelcie Morrow, Leah Williams, Molly McGonigle, Aubrey Hunter and Micheala Graham.
Third and Fourth Grade Boy Winners received their trophy and are coached by Jeff Bingaman and Al Harris. Team members include Anthony Avia, Josh Bingaman, Ray Bozarth, Ben Harris, Kieron Kelly, Morgan Kelso, Rilie Lind, Jake Lynn, Tyler McDaniel, Pierce Peragine.
