SEA ISLE CITY — Good Counsel Homes will host a walkathon on the Sea Isle Promenade Saturday, beginning at JFK Boulevard and the Promenade to help raise money for the organization and new homes. Registration will be at 8:30 a.m.; walk will start: 9 a.m.
Good Counsel Homes is a non-profit organization helps homeless pregnant mothers and single mothers with babies by moving them into an empty convent to live. Women can stay there throughout their pregnancy and up to a year after the child is born.
While living under the help of Good Counsel Homes, the women learn essential life skills such as job training, child care, money management, resume writing, etc. They also place 10 percent of their weekly salary into a savings account that will go towards a down payment for their new residence when they leave Good Counsel Homes.
The fee to participate is a donation to the Good Counsel Homes.
