Coach Dunphy Brunch Slated in Cape May

By Press Release

CAPE MAY — Temple University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics invites all alumni and friends from Cape May and Atlantic Counties for a private and upscale Sunday Brunch with Fran Dunphy, the Owls’ Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
There’s no better way to spend a summer Sunday “down the shore” than with Coach Dunphy and fellow Owls. Dunphy, the reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Coach of the Year, a finalist for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award and a finalist for the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year, guided the Owls to their first A-10 regular season championship since 2002.
In 2010, he also led Temple to a 29-6 overall mark, tying for the second most regular season wins in Temple history, and the school’s first national ranking since 2001.
On Sun., Aug. 22, all are welcome to gather with Dunphy, Athletics staff and friends at Carney’s on the Beach, 401 Beach Avenue, Cape May, (phone 609-884-4424) at 10 a.m. for a sit-down brunch featuring filet mignon, summer fun and a preview of the 2010-2011 Temple Basketball season.
Cost of $50 per person includes brunch, open bar and limited auction featuring memorabilia and other special items.
All proceeds from the brunch benefit Temple Basketball’s Fast Break Club, assisting with special needs in support of the Owls’ quest for a fourth consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. The Fast Break Club set a goal of $110,000 for the 2010-11 season.
It’s a great time to be a Temple Owl, so plan to join us in Cape May. To register, contact the Owl Club at 215-204-CLUB (2582) or via e-mail at OwlClub@temple.edu. Advance registration is preferred, but walk-up registration is also welcome.
