COURT HOUSE – CJ’s Bar and Grill and Uries Restaurant recently won Cape May Men’s Slo-pitch League championships in the A and B Divisions, respectively.
CJ’s defeated the very talented Bellevue Tavern 3 games to 1 to capture the Cape May Men’s Slo-pitch A-Division Championship. They also won the regular-season championship by finishing with a 16-2 record. Game four was a nail-biter highlighted by numerous outstanding defensive plays in which CJ’s prevailed 4-2 to earn their first title. CJ’s playoff run was made possible by excellent team defense and timely hitting. Players that excelled were Scott Mason, Jerry Griffin, Paul Amenhauser, Randy Sturm, Mark Sczur and Kyle Weinberg. Bellevue players that played well were Dave Hagan, Pete Peters, Dale Champion and Tom Van Artsdalen.
Uries Restaurant swept Cobra Kai’s in two straight games to win the B Division championship, their first as well. Kyle Stuber, Kevin Lewis, Ryan Lewis, Ed Wright and John Gamble played outstanding softball for Uries. The Cobra Kais were led by Justin Vitti, Kenny Woolfort, Brian Howard and Brad Shapiro.
