OCEAN CITY – Track and field athletes from Lower Cape May, Middle Township, Ocean City, Wildwood and Wildwood Catholic competed in the annual Cape May County Track and Field Championships at Carey Stadium on May 11.
Ocean City proved its dominance by placing their athletes in the top three spots in many of the events. Both of the Red Raiders teams won the overall team titles.
Middle Township boys and girls teams placed second overall. Kate Herlihy and Caroline Gallagher led the girls side individually and with relay events. Jalen Freeman and Gary James Nagle were winners in the boys 400 meter dash and pole vault events, respectively.
Lower Cape May saw success from Dominic Bowman, Will Berger and Dennis Cluff in the boys events while Christina Adams, Ava Pierce and Katya Simonsen posted individual wins in the girls events.
Wildwood Catholic’s Charles Fields, Rakim Coyle and Caleb Fields also placed in the events they competed in.
The next meet many of these athletes will compete in is the Cape-Atlantic League championships on May 17 at Bridgeton High School.
