Berger Wins C.A.L. Cross Country Title

Lower Cape May cross country runner Will Berger was the top finisher in the county meet on Oct. 19

MILLVILLE – Lower Cape May senior Will Berger added another individual title to his collection in Oct. 26’s Cape-Atlantic League Cross Country Championships at the New Jersey Motorsports Park’s Thunderbolt Raceway.
Berger finished first overall with a time of 16:09. Last week, he won the county boys’ title.
Ocean City’s Jesse Schmeizer finished three seconds behind Berger in third. Three other Red Raiders finished in the top fifteen.
Mainland Regional won the boys’ team title with 21 points with Ocean City placing second with 56 points. Wildwood Catholic, Cape May Tech and Middle Township also placed.
Mainland Regional’s Alyssa Aldridge was the top finisher in the girls’ race. Alexa Weber of Ocean City finished third with three of her teammates in the top fifteen. Wildwood Catholic’s Julia Sorenson finished eleventh.
In girls’ team scoring, Ocean City won overall with 40 points. Wildwood Catholic and Cape May Tech also placed.
