9th Annual Warrior Classic Results

WILDWOOD – The 9th annual Warrior Classic Invitational Baseball Tournament returned to Maxwell Field in Wildwood Thursday afternoon. The tournament featured six high school teams including Wildwood, Lower Cape May, Cape May Tech, Wildwood Catholic, Oakcrest and LEAP Academy. 
Lower Cape May and LEAP Academy opened up the tournament with the Caper Tigers winning, 15-1. Justin Nicholas went two-for-three with four RBIs for Lower Cape May. Winning pitcher Courtland Dickinson had three strike-outs.
Cape May Tech and Wildwood Catholic played Thursday night with the Hawks winning, 11-1. Kyle Eppright went two-for-two, including three runs for the Hawks. Winning pitcher Robert Edmunds had three strike-outs. Joe Alosi scored the only run for the Crusaders while pitcher Mike Sharkey had four strike-outs.
On Saturday, host Wildwood met up with Lower Cape May and won, 2-0. Winning pitcher Chris Mormile allowed one hit with ten strike-outs. Mormile also scored in the Warriors win. Josh Meyer had five strike-outs for the Caper Tigers.
Cape May Tech fell 5-0 to Oakcrest. Kyle Eppright and Nick DiRitis each had hits for the Hawks. In Saturday night’s game,
Oakcrest won 3-0 against host Wildwood. Chris Mormile hit his 100th career hit on a single to left field. Pitcher Billy Bolle had seven strike-outs for the Warriors.
On Sunday, Lower Cape May won 19-7 against Wildwood Catholic after trailing 7-5 in the second inning. Kevin Roach won game MVP after going four-for-four, having three runs scored, a double, triple, and five RBIs for the Caper Tigers. Joe Alosi scored two runs for the Crusaders.
Cape May Tech won 6-3 against LEAP Academy. Hunter Tomlin won game MVP after going two-for-four, having one run scored and three RBIs for the Hawks.
Lower Cape May won 6-0 against Cape May Tech. Mike Downes won game MVP for his performance on the mound for the Caper Tigers. Hunter Tomlin had two hits for the Hawks.
On Monday, Lower Cape May and Wildwood met for the semi-final game and the Warriors came out on top, 2-0. Winning pitcher and game MVP Carlos Santiago had five strike-outs while fellow Warriors Justin Soto, Andrew Mormile, Josh Marsden and James Grauel each contributed two hits apiece. Justin Nicholas and Mike Downes had hits for the Caper Tigers.
In the championship game Monday night, Wildwood fell to Oakcrest, 5-3. Justin Soto had two runs scored and a hit for the Warriors. Chris Mormile and Billy Bolle also had hits for the Warriors. The Falcons’ Alec Rodriguez was named tournament MVP while relief pitcher Matt Robinson earned the game MVP honors.
