COURT HOUSE – Cape May Council’s 4-H Horse Council invites golfers, sponsors and donors to join in the 11th annual 4-H golf tournament. The fundraiser will take place April 27, at the Avalon Golf Club, in Swainton.
All proceeds from the tournament go directly to 4-H educational costs, including the 4-H Memorial Scholarship Program and youth participation in state and national 4-H events. Horse Council has contributed $18,000 to the 4-H scholarship program in the last ten years. With these funds, 27 college scholarships have been provided to Cape May County 4-H youth. Horse club leaders hope to use some of the proceeds from this year’s tournament to renovate their 40-year-old horse show arena with new footing.
Tournament entry fees are $100 per person or $385 per foursome, but there is an early bird discount to $375 per team if registered with payment by April 5.
The entry fee includes green fees, carts, registration gifts, door prizes, an Italian buffet dinner and delicious homemade desserts made by 4-H youth. The tournament features Longest Drive, Closest to Pin, and Putting Contests as well as a Hole-in-One car sponsored by Kindle Ford. Tournament registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with the shotgun kickoff at noon. Prizes will be awarded to the top three tournament teams and the top coed team.
Donations to the tournament are tax deductible. If you would like to play in the tournament, please call the 4-H office, at 609-465-5115, ext. 606, or email lhorner@co.cape-may.nj.us.
The 4-H Youth Development Program is part of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. 4-H educational programs are offered to all youth, grades K-13, on an age-appropriate basis, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
