SEAVILLE – Upper Township held their 2012 Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic last Saturday at Shore Veterinarians in Seaville. The turn out for these clinics was one of the largest in years with 195 dogs being vaccinated and 48 cats. The dog license compliance has been increased significantly this year because of the success of these clinics.
Former Upper Township Committeewoman and newly appointed Freeholder Kristine Gabor attended the clinic with her dog Buddy. She was quite impressed with the turnout and the efficiency of the event. Officers from Shore Animal Control who work in conjunction with Shore Veterinarians were there to help with the clinic. For all the residents with pets who have not licensed yet, late fees will apply. The township will be conducting a dog census during the coming year so residents are urged to go to the township to avoid penalties and and additional late fees.
All dogs in the township are required to be licensed and they must have a current rabies vaccination to receive the license. Licenses issued on or after March 1 are considered late will have the following late fees imposed in addition to license fee. 3/1 to 3/31 the late fee will be an additional $6.00. Every month thereafter will be an increase of $1 plus the license fee.This March clinic was the last clinic of the year. Proof of rabies vaccination is required to obtain a license. Residents will have to visit their local veterinarian for the vaccinations if they are out of date. Proof of spay and neuter is required in writing in order to receive the reduced spay and neuter license fee.
