LoBiondo Honored By National Humane Society

By Herald Staff

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo (R-2nd) was honored by the Humane Society of the United States for his continued support of legislation to protect animals from suffering and abuse throughout 2007.
LoBiondo received the “Humane Champion Award” for his leadership on legislation and for receiving a perfect score on the Humane Scorecard (humanescorecard.org.). LoBiondo was joined by fellow South Jersey U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-4th) in being recognized.
“As a true lover of animals and owner of two rescued Weimaraners, I am honored to receive this award from the Humane Society of the United States. Their tireless efforts and advocacy on behalf of animals has served as a model for me, and I will continue to work with the Humane Society on issues important to their members,” said LoBiondo in a release.
The Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest animal protection organization — backed by 10 million Americans, or one of every 30. For more than a half-century, The Humane Society of the United States has been fighting for the protection of all animals through advocacy, education, and hands-on programs.
“Representative LoBiondo has shown a deep commitment to animal welfare, and The Humane Society of the United States and our supporters in New Jersey are very grateful for his efforts in Congress,” said Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of The Humane Society of the United States.
LoBiondo and his wife Tina have two rescued Weimaraners – Lola and Luca.
