Dead Whale Brings Attention to Sea Isle Beach

SEA ISLE CITY – A dead humpback whale washed ashore Friday afternoon, Sept. 16 near 20th Street in Sea Isle City, The Press of Atlantic City reports.
Marine Mammal Stranding Center responded to the scene and police taped off the area. 
Bob Schoelkopf, Marine Mammal Stranding Center’s founding director, told The Press of Atlantic City the whale is a young male that likely weighs 20 tons and is around 33 feet long.
The cause of death is unknown at this time. Marine Mammal Stranding Center will perform a necropsy Saturday, Sept. 17, to determine how the whale died, the report continued.
