Cape May County Animal Shelter Partners with Animal Alliance to Support Troops

By Lenora Boninfante

Cape May Court House – Cape May County Freeholder Leonard Desiderio and Sheriff Gary Schaffer are pleased to announce that the Cape May County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is partnering with the Animal Alliance of Cape May County to provide free pet adoptions for all military personnel and their dependants.
In honor of Veterans’ Day, Animal Alliance of Cape May County, a non-profit animal advocacy group that promotes aggressive spay and neuter programs throughout the County, will pay the adoption fees for animals adopted from the County Shelter by military personnel, members of the National Guard and their dependants plus all veterans in the county. The program will run from Veterans’ Day through January 31, 2012.
Freeholder Desiderio said, “We are pleased to partner with Animal Alliance which has demonstrated its concern for the well being of all animals. The fact that we are not only providing homes for these animals but are also making it a little easier for our military families to afford a pet is a wonderful bonus.”
Sheriff Schaffer added, “Anyway we can support our troops and all veterans in our county it is important to do so. This is just a small token to show our appreciation and also to give a loving pet a home.”
The Cape May County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is located at 110 Shelter Road in the Crest Haven Complex (Exit 11 off the GSP). For more information on how to adopt a pet please call 465-8923, visit capemaycountygov.net or email animalshelter@cmcsheriff.
