CAPE MAY — The recent raid on Goshen Road resulted in a rescue of 68 dogs and two cats. Most of the animals were placed with area shelters, but all filled to capacity before all animals were placed, leaving six dogs with nowhere to go.
Animal Outreach of Cape May County has stepped up to pledge funding to cover private boarding and vaccinations for the last six dogs removed from the scene, insuring them a safe and warm shelter until the situation can be resolved.
Since that time, it was learned that many of the rescued dogs have tested positive for Heartworm and Lyme disease, and several are pregnant. Veterinary care is required for most of the dogs to ensue they are treated for, or are free of, disease and other health issues.
The first donations raised through this Chipin will cover the boarding and vaccinations of the last six dogs to be removed from the property. All remaining funds will ensure that adequate medical care is provided for the other 62 rescued dogs and two cats.
In the event that any funds remain, all monies will be used to help other homeless animals receive much needed veterinary care.
