2012 Mutt Strut Donates to County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – Members of the Cape May County Dog Obedience Training Club (CMCDOTC) recently presented a check for $2955 to the Cape May County Sheriff‘s Office K-9 Unit. The amount represents one-half of the proceeds of the 2012 Mutt Strut held on the Cape May Promenade in September.
The $2955 donation is earmarked toward the purchase of canine protective vests. None of the K-9s are currently protected. With a cost per vest of approximately $2000, this is a start on an important project.
Pictured with the check presentation are CMCDOTC President Evelyn Munno and Lucky, Mutt Strut Co-chair Carolyn MacMullen and K-9 officer Sqt. Beth Perednas.
The CMCDOTC share of the Mutt Strut proceeds is used to defray the cost of training programs for members and those offered to the public and for the Club’s canine community activities. In the past, the group has donated almost $6000 to the Shelter Building Fund of Animal Outreach of Cape May County, supplied pet oxygen masks to fire and rescue companies in Cape May County, contributed to pet food drives, and collected leashes and toys for the County Animal Shelter.
Plans are underway for the 7th Annual Mutt Strut to be held on the Cape May Promenade on Sept. 21, 2013 with a rain date of Sept. 22. Mark your calendar now!
