Today’s Vinyl Is a Great Alternative

By Press Release

Well folks, in my last article I explained a bit about cork flooring; now, I’ll explain about vinyl sheet goods.
Vinyl comes in various sizes and finishes. Most vinyl finishes today are called matte (mat) finish. This finish, put on by the manufacturers, is especially tough and easy to clean.
When cleaning, use mostly plain water or add a mild dish detergent if needed. But folks, you have to be careful not to use abrasive cleaners (follow my directions).
The majority of vinyl backing is a combination of felt and paper products for complete glue down installation, whereas the fiber-glass and PVC types can be loose-layer or just glued around the edges. This is made mostly for the do-it-yourselfers.
During the winter months, acclimation of the product is essential for easy work-ability. Vinyl flooring got its start in the early 1940s. It was known then as oil cloth or linoleum because the backing was oil-based by-products.
Patterns can range from wood grain to ceramic tile look, to plain, to speckled; with most in square block form. Vinyl flooring today is more durable than yesteryear’s floors to traffic use.
Pricing is very compatible to your pocket-book. Vinyl is also made like many other products from good, to better, to best and excellent. All are priced accordingly, and each to one’s own particular taste.
A lot of today’s vinyls contain silver additives for nature’s own antimicrobial protection from bacteria, mold and mildew, so if your kids play on their vinyl floor, they are protected.
They are Scotch-guarded which makes them easier to clean. The gloss and PVC is as tough as nails. They don’t wear out; they don’t fade or discolor from heat or sunlight and will not gouge, rip, or tear easily.
So if you are looking for an alternative to laminate or ceramic, why not try vinyl flooring again. It’s a whole new ball-game in flooring design and wear-ability.
