Repurpose Old Treasures for Unique Home Décor

By Sponsored Content

As the saying goes, everything old is new again, and this is especially true with home décor in 2014. So many things that are considered “vintage” or “retro” now serve as chic and cool home additions.
When shopping for “old world” furniture, look for old period pieces to mix in with more modern items. This adds a touch of glamour to your décor’s current modernity. Antique furniture is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also usually handmade and of superior quality to today’s counterparts. North End Thrift now features its very own “Vintage Room” where shoppers can browse dozens of antique furniture pieces from a range of time periods. This room is also home to a number of retro wall fixtures, lamps, clocks, decorative dishes, and even vintage metal lanterns.
Neatly arranged within one of the room’s antique china cabinets are another extraordinary North End Thrift find – dozens upon dozens of Wheaton Village colored glass bottles. Wheaton Village is the oldest and one of the most well-respected glass bottle makers in the state of New Jersey. These highly collectible bottles serve well as a vase or simply as a bright addition to a tabletop or shelf. A number of these bottles commemorate certain events and important figures throughout U.S. history and are therefore limited edition and extremely unique. These beautiful teal, green, amber, purple, and blue Wheaton Village bottles can make any vignette look elegant.
For those who’d like to incorporate a touch of the new with these old treasures, North End Thrift now carries hundreds of novelty sports, beach-themed, fishing, beer and spirits related, and even “man cave” wall signs. In varied sizes and complete with hilarious sayings, these signs are an affordable and simple addition of personality to a plain wall. North End offers them at just $15 each or 2 for $25.
As frequent North End Thrift patron Steve Lamanno states, “This store is so much more than just a thrift shop. It is a cultural center. There is history here. There is comraderie here. It’s so exciting to see how these vintage items can be recycled and “reloved” in a new home.”
For a sample of this “cultural” shopping experience and to incorporate a classic vintage piece into your home’s décor, visit the store at 901 Bayshore Road, Villas. For more info, call (609) 770-8790, or visit www.northendthrift.com for a virtual tour.
