Natural Stone Has Beauty, Durability

Natural Stone is timeless — as old as the earth itself.
There is a certain magic about stone that cannot be reproduced by man-made materials. Just imagine this summer lounging by your pool, created by the expert craftsman at La Terra Stone, using a material as magnificent as Travertine.
Millions of years old, Travertine is a sedimentary rock consisting of fossilized material found in ancient seas, lakes and river beds. It’s a solid form of carbonate mineral formed in hot bubbly mineral rich springs. Gas bubbles become trapped, creating the unique pitted surface on the stone.
Travertine can be purchased with these surface holes filled, or with their natural holes and troughs. Because it lacks metal content, Travertine is ideal for pools, patios and walkways. It will stay cool on your feet on hot summer days but will not freeze in the cold of winter.
Travertine withstands weathering and erosion without deteriorating. Colors will not fade over time, actually improving with age.
Just look at the Roman Coliseum, the Getty Center in Los Angeles, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Paris, and the walls of the entire first floor of the UCLA Medical Center!
Easy steps to clean Travertine floor tile:
1. With a non-treated dust mop or vacuum with a glider, clean the floor.
2. Use mild dish soap, a clean mop and bucket. Do not overuse soap or it will leave streaks.
3. After wet mopping, dry.
Don’ts for cleaning stone floors:
• Don’t use acid cleaners such as vinegar on stone floors.
• Don’t use cleaners like bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners, or tub and tile cleaners.
• Don’t use abrasive cleaners.
La Terra Stone is the area’s only complete showroom of Travertine. We carry 12×12 and 18×18 Travertine tile samples and have a showroom full of outdoor pavers installed in a French pattern.
