The weather has been great for the last four weeks, but we all know what is coming.
It is the middle of November and the stores are ready for Christmas. It has been an interesting year for our business.
I was recently visiting family out of town, and had to go to their local lumber yard. This was a big city with a little lumber yard and they had no room to move and no place to park, but had everything I needed.
It is the time of year to finish up all the little projects you started during the summer and fall. It is time to winterize the lawn equipment and start up the snow removal equipment.
Check to see where you put your snow shovel last year. Do you have any products left over from last year to melt ice? Check to see if it is usable or a solid block that needs to be replaced.
Products that melt ice come in different containers, sizes and types. Some products can cause damage to the surface you are applying it to so, ask your sales person at your local lumber yard what they recommend.
For all you lucky snow-blower owners, your local lumber yard has fuel, oil, and any additives needed to get your blowers ready for winter work.
If you haven’t turned your heat on yet, look at or replace your filters on your heater. This will help it run more efficiently.
In a couple of weeks, we are all going to be decorating for Christmas. And now is a good time to check extension cords for damage.
All local lumber yards will have products to keep you safe and warm throughout the winter. Stop in and visit them for ideas on getting through this winter.
