Is Your Shed Spring-Ready?

Is Your Shed Spring-Ready?

By Sponsored

Although it might be hard to believe, spring is just around the corner! Shortly you’ll be outside enjoying fresh air and planting seeds in the garden. But before you plant your spring blossoms, it’s important to prepare your shed to make the gardening process easier. Here are five ways to get your shed ready for spring!
1. Clear the base of your shed. Get rid of any leaves or debris at your shed’s base, leaving a few inches around the base. This will let it breathe, avoiding any rot or damage to your shed’s foundation.
2. Give your shed some TLC. After the brutal winter weather, your shed will more than likely need some outside maintenance. Patch any leaks or holes, power wash the exterior and if needed, slap on a fresh coat of paint!
3. Check the roof. Now is the time to examine your shed’s roof for any leaks or lost shingles. Don’t wait until spring – the sooner you find them, the better! Fix your roof ASAP if needed to avoid any damage to the inside of your shed and its belongings.
4. Reorganize your equipment. It’s almost time to say goodbye to the snow equipment! Begin to rotate your equipment and move lawn equipment toward the front while pushing snow shovels toward the back. Doing this before gardening season means more time planting in the sun and less time shuffling things in your shed.
5. Reinforce shelves and hooks. Cold weather causes things to contract while warm weather makes them expand. With our changing seasons, it’s likely your shelves, hooks, screws and nails have loosened a bit. To avoid injury and damage, check this hardware and reinforce it if needed.
If your shed didn’t withstand the harsh winter conditions, now’s the time to get a new one!
