Getting Ready for Fall and Winter Storage

Getting Ready for Fall and Winter Storage

By Sponsored

If you want your outdoor furniture to last and look its best year after year, it should be put under cover for the late fall and winter – that means in a shed or other dry storage space.

Clean Out Your Shed

Remove all items from your shed and give it a good sweeping or vacuuming. Once that’s done and you start placing your things back inside, check the items over to make sure they are still in good shape. Discard any items that no longer work or donate items that you no longer need.

Prepare Your Patio Furniture for Storage

Before putting outdoor furniture away for the season, it should be thoroughly cleaned and repaired if needed. For extra protection, cover your furniture with a tarp once stacked inside your shed.

Perform Any Necessary Repairs

Check over your shed for any areas that may have mold, mildew or rot and clean or replace them. If you have noticed any roof leaks, contact a roofer or handyman to repair it before storing your items away for the season.

Place Items Inside Strategically

When putting your items away to store for the fall and winter seasons, be careful of how and where you place them. Items you will need earlier the next season such as gardening equipment should be closer to the doors, as they are likely to be the first items needed when spring arrives.
