DIY Night Stand

After

By Designed and Executed by Maria Filina of North Cape May

Maria is always looking for projects to do during her time off since she works for a seasonal business and has nothing but time in the winter. Maria’s third project she submitted, her DIY night stand, was a very easy one that took only a few days to complete from start to finish. She bought two very worn, beat up tables on Swip Swap for the low price of $10 for both. After a little T.L.C., Maria transformed those tables into two beautiful night stands for her home in North Cape May. Here are the steps she took for this DIY project:
Step 1: First, she sanded down the top of the table.
Step 2: Next, she painted the entire table, including the door, with two coats of paint.
Step 3: After allowing the table to dry, she slightly distressed the table with sand paper.
Step 4: Then, she white washed the table by brushing white wax onto it, excluding the top.
Step 5: Once the table was dry, she stained the top with a dark walnut stain.
Step 6: Lastly, she applied two coats of polyurethane to the table.
Total Cost: Approximately $14 for both night stands – $10 for the tables and $4 for the white wax. Maria had the paint and polyurethane at home already.
Vendors Used:
White wax – Michael’s, Rio Grande
