Consider Cork — a Great Alternative

By Press Release

Well, summer is over and kids are back in school that means it’s time to do some remodeling at home.
We at Huffman’s Floor Covering have just what you need. We are showing our new line of cork flooring.
These days everything is about going “green” and using natural products. Well, you don’t get any more natural than cork. It’s environmentally friendly, quiet, easily installed, warm, comfortable, and durable.
One of its greatest features is it has hypoallergenic properties.
Did I mention how quiet is? Cork has a great capacity for silencing the floor and room, which means no echoing sounds.
Our cork flooring is by Mannington and is ½-inch high density cork in a 6-foot wide format, and surprise it is a glueless installation.
Cork is a great alternative flooring choice and if you consider yourself a “friend” of trees, there is no better choice. In fact, here are a few interesting details that you may not know about cork flooring.
• Cork remains the only tree whose bark can regenerate itself after each harvest, leaving the tree unharmed.
• Cork oak trees live for 250-350 years, and can produce several hundred kilos of cork at every harvest.
• A tree must be 20 to 25 years old before it can provide its first harvest.
• Cork is harvested on a sustainable basis and the stripping of the bark does not harm the tree in any way. The bark grows back completely, taking on a smoother texture after each harvest.
• A cork oak tree can be safely harvested up to 20 times during its life cycle.
Stop in and ask to see our selection of cork flooring products. Please remember to ask for John or feel free to give us a call at 609-886-1131.
