CAPE MAY – Cape May Winery & Vineyard of Cape May and Hawk Haven Vineyards of Rio Grande will participate in The Garden State Wine Growers Association’s annual Blues & Wine Weekend Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29 at Natirar Park in Peapack-Gladstone.
This year’s festival brings together a weekend celebration of 26 New Jersey wineries, more than 300 locally-produced wines, live blues bands, artisan vendors, gourmet food and kids activities. Special treat will be the appearances of top blues bands on each day of the festival.
Saturday, Shadetree Mechanics will be playing a mix of standard and contemporary blues covers as well as original songs from their last two self produced CD’s. This band has been the runner up for Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Festival, Memphis Blues competition the last four years in row.
Sunday, the music comes from Mike Dugan and the Blues Mission. Based in the Allentown, Pennsylvania area, the birthplace of the American steel industry, blues guitarist Mike Dugan and his band have taken the influences of the region known as the Rust Belt and created their own style of blues. Formed in the early 1990’s, Mike and the Blues Mission have toured the East Coast playing a variety of festivals and clubs building a loyal audience and sharing the stage with many blues legends.
Festival hours for both days are noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person at the gate. Advance tickets can be purchased only at the association web site for $18 a person. The Blues & Wine Weekend is one of five festivals held during the summer and fall by the Garden State Wine Growers Association.
