A Fix for Heating, Cooling a Small Room

By Press Release

Ductless split air conditioning-heating units are a type of system that does not require you to use up window space or cut large openings in existing walls nor do they require any duct work.
The indoor unit (evaporator) is mounted inside the room, enclosed in a handsome space saving cabinet. It is connected to the outdoor unit (condenser) via refrigerant lines and inter-unit wiring.
Since no ductwork is required, installation is simple, fast and efficient. The indoor unit has been uniquely designed to provide whisper-quiet operation while delivering comfort throughout the room(s).
In addition, they provide efficient, powerful cooling at the lowest noise levels in the industry. No more noisy window units. These units have lower operating costs, tend to be higher quality, have more safety features, better sound shields and lower voltage requirements.
Ductless split systems are operated by a wireless remote with an easy-to-read LCD display, gives the user the capability to adjust and set: temperature, sweep(louver control), fan speeds, timer, night setback and more.
The thermostat is capable of maintaining a constant, comfortable temperature in a room instead of blasting on and off. In addition, you don’t have to move a split system in and out of the window as the seasons change, and you don’t have the open-window security concerns of a movable unit.
Installing a ductless split heating-air conditioning system is more efficient and more effective than any window unit. When sizing the unit, your contractor will recommend an air conditioner size, expressed either in tonnage or BTU per hour.
Getting the proper size unit is important because an undersize unit will not be able to cool rooms down completely on the hottest days and will cost more to operate because it has to run longer than a correctly sized unit.
An oversize compressor also costs more to operate because it simply takes more electricity to run a bigger unit. And an oversize unit doesn’t lower humidity effectively. That’s because it cools the air so quickly that it shuts off before it has a chance to circulate the proper volume of air past the coils to extract the necessary moisture.
The result is a room that doesn’t seem as cool as the temperature indicates. In fact, the room can feel clammy and damp.
After determining the size of the unit, your contractor should talk to you about efficiency, which is expressed by the seasonal energy-efficiency rating (SEER). The SEER rates how many BTU an air conditioner will remove for each watt of electricity it consumes. The higher the SEER, the less it costs to operate. Federal law now requires that new air conditioning units have a SEER of at least 13.
These units have lower operating costs, tend to be higher quality, have more safety features, better sound shields and lower voltage requirements.
