There’s something refreshing and even romantic about showering in the sun or under a summer night sky. There’s also something incredibly practical about rinsing off after a sweaty run or a dirty dig in the garden without tracking the grime through your house! Whether you choose to go with wood or vinyl, here are some things to consider when installing an outdoor shower enclosure.
1. Size
Typical sizes for shower enclosures range from 4’x4’ to 4’x8’, but any size can be made. Consider how much space you want your new shower to take up and what its primary use will be. For example, if a parent will be helping the kids get rinsed off after a swim, it may be a good idea to go a bit larger.
2. Accessories
The most common accessories installed with a shower enclosure are a roof, bench and/or partition wall. If you need privacy perhaps due to a second story window, a roof is a great addition. A bench can hold shampoos and soap, while a partition wall in a larger shed can help keep towels and clothes dry.
3. Plumbing
If your outdoor plumbing is already in place, then you are good to go! If not, give your plumber a call ASAP. It is easier to access the area and install any new fixtures before your new shower enclosure is installed.
4. Base
Do you already have a concrete pad? Great! You may be all set. If not, think about what sort of base you’d like to be standing on when using your new shower. Concrete is a very common option, but another option is a custom sized floating deck platform. Murphy Fence Company can include a deck platform with your shower enclosure quote on request.
