Wildwood Police Encourage Halloween Safety

By Press Release

WILDWOOD – With the Halloween holiday just one day away, members of the City of Wildwood Police Department encourage parents, as well as trick-or-treaters, to make safety a high priority.
According to Capt. Robert Regalbuto, following a few safety tips will help insure a fun-filled holiday.
“Children should travel in groups when going door-to-door,” said Regalbuto, adding smaller children should be accompanied by an adult. Before going out to collect their candy, adults should check their child’s costume to make sure it allows for safe walking as well as good visibility.
The City of Wildwood’s official trick-or-treat time is slated for Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. – just as the sky grows dark.
“Drivers need to be more cautious,” said Regalbuto, noting low-lighted areas and dark costumes can make seeing children crossing streets more difficult.
Before eating their treats all candy collected by children should be examined by parents. Children should not be allowed to eat candy with missing or damaged wrappers.
“We want our children to be safe and have fun,” he said.
Regalbuto added anyone with questions or concerns this Halloween may contact Wildwood police at 609-522-0222.
