STONE HARBOR – The Women’s Civic Club of Stone Harbor held its eighth annual Toys for Tots drive at the clubhouse, 96th Street and the beach Nov. 29, during the borough’s Thanksgiving Weekend festivities.
As usual, it was deemed “very successful” by organizers with children bringing new toys to hill the Marine Corps Reserves’ boxes and then enjoyed hot chocolate and free continental breakfast.
Club President Phyllis Childs said many of the parents came up to her and said that this was one event they had been coming to since its inception eight years ago, and they wouldn’t want to miss it.
The children had a great time talking, cuddling and taking pictures with their favorite Disney characters, who were very aptly portrayed by students from the local high school.
Unwrapped toys may still be donated at any Toys for Tots drop box, one located in the Cape May County Herald lobby, 1508 Route 47, Rio Grande until shortly before Christmas.
