The Tree Hunters

By Herald Staff

By SUSAN A. KAVADAS
Away they all go into the cold starry night
ambitiously illuminating the way
breaking through the frosted snow…
that shines with the last light of day
Happy faces young and old
rushing with torches aglow
dancing about like fireflies
from tree to tree they go
Behind them swirling wisps follow
the warmth of their breath like a kiss
hanging in the pine scented air
in free floating surreal bliss…
Each voice adds its own sweet note
tumbling into that once tranquil place
now alive with the songs of their joy and delight
to see Christmas in each other’s face
Susan A. Kavadas writes from Cape May.
