So many Christmases
have washed their relics
upon these shores,
Each new tide
a refreshing gesture
to decorate these sands
with ornaments
of every memory,
every scene of hope and love,
every musty gift
once opened with delight…
So many Christmases
have christened this beach
with their sparkling artifacts,
Presents to be picked
from the stroll of years,
from every gleam of celebration,
every heart ever tugged
on Christmas morning
with a child’s
eager anticipation…
So many Christmases
have swept away
each storm’s debris,
Leaving the treasure
of special moments
to adorn every strand,
every footstep,
every gulley
with the love washed back
from Yule embraces,
fashioned from the giving
of once-wounded hearts…
So many Christmases
have touched this beach
with their gems of warmth,
tucked between pebble piles,
Gleaming the mystery
of their every endearment,
every smile,
every song,
every clutch at a loved once
never wanting to let go,
of a Christmas beach blessed
with its tides of enchantment.
