Stone Harbor Christmas Parade Welcomes Santa

Vintage fire engine conveys Santa and Mrs. Claus to Stone Harbor Nov. 30 during the Christmas parade.

By Al Campbell

STONE HARBOR – Santa and Mrs. Claus were escorted into Stone Harbor Nov. 30 during the Christmas parade that drew a large crowd to 96th Street and along Third Avenue.
Well wishers of all ages welcomed the North Pole’s first couple after they watched a long line of fire engines, floats, dancers, and musicians.
While snow might have threatened New Jersey’s northern counties with an impending storm, the merry markers from the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor, with a lighted sailboat in tow, created a snowstorm along Third Avenue that brought cheers from the crowd. It was in keeping with the White Christmas in Stone Harbor theme.
The parade was the culmination of the Stone Harbor Island Holiday that included, over the long holiday weekend, a pet parade, a merchants’ hospitality night, a scavenger hunt, and a variety of family-friendly activities.
