Stone Harbor Celebrates an Island Holiday

STONE HARBOR – Thanksgiving weekend marks the start of Holiday Happenings in Stone Harbor. On Fri., Nov. 25, Stone Harbor rings in the festive holiday season in authentic island style through the charming shopping district.
Whether you want to get a head start on your holiday shopping, delight in the sounds of the seasons with Christmas carolers, or just take a stroll through the festive town, Stone Harbor has plenty of fun activities for the whole family on both Fri., Nov. 25 and Sat., Nov. 26.
Two of the highlights of this celebration will be an ice carver carving Santa Claus and a reindeer on Fri. from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. And on Fri. night at 7 p.m., Mayor Walters will offficialy light the sand sculpture being created on the lot at 96th Street and Third Avenue. The sculpture will take 4 days to create and it will feature a 7 foot tall Santa with children and presents surrounding him all made out of sand and sculptured by world-reknowed sand artist John Gruber.
Avoid the busy parking lots and over packed malls by shopping for your loved ones this holiday season in Stone Harbor. Most stores are open throughout the Holiday season.

Get Your Picture in a Stone Harbor Lifeguard Boat. Bring Your Own Camera.
Fri., Nov. 25:
Entertainment throughout the Day – 96th Street Stage.
Cookie Decorating – 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Jack’s Shack.
Story time with Santa – 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Stone Harbor Book Shop.
Pet Parade – 1 p.m. – Parade runs the 200 and 300 Block of 96th Street.
Pet Photos with Santa – 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Paw Prints. Bring your own camera.
Hospitality Night – 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Visit merchants downtown and enjoy their hospitality while you shop.
Mummers String Band – 7:30 p.m.
Sat., Nov. 26:
Entertainment throughout the Day on the 96th Street Stage.
Toys for Tots Continental Breakfast – 9 a.m. – Women’s Civic Club. Bring an unwrapped toy and enjoy a complimentary breakfast with Christmas Characters.
Lunch with Santa – 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Stone Harbor Bar & Grill.
Story time with Santa 10 and 2:30 at Stone Harbor Book Shop.
Ornament Making – 11 a.m. at Just Bead It, 9514 Third Avenue.
Decorate the Tree for the Animals – 11 a.m.
Weber Grill & Big Green Egg Cooking Demo – 12 noon – 3 p.m. at Seashore Ace.
Photos with Santa at the FireHouse – 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Caroling Under the Clock with Our Saviour Lutheran Church – 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Christmas Parade – 6:30 p.m.
Visit with Santa after the Parade at Coffee Talk at 299 97th Street
Kids can visit the firehouse in the afternoon to sit with Santa, share their Christmas wish lists and take away a memorable snapshot of their time with the big man in red!
