By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – The properties entered in Sea Isle City’s 2013 Holiday House Lighting Contest were judged by volunteers from Sea Isle’s Garden Club on Dec. 12. The popular competition, hosted by the City’s Division of Recreation, featured fourteen well-decorated homes that were rated on creativity, aesthetics and endeavor.
The first place prize of $100 cash, courtesy of First Bank of Sea Isle City, went to the Blum family at 312 45th Place. The Blum’s home featured an eye-catching array of seasonal decorations – including thousands of lights, a life-size Santa Claus, giant snowflakes and variety of illuminated characters.
Second place honors and $50 cash, courtesy of First Bank of Sea Isle City, was awarded to the Laidlaw home at 7804 Central Avenue (south unit), where giant candy canes, toy soldiers, a huge sack of toys and other seasonal decorations lit up the night sky.
Third prize of a floral arrangement, courtesy of Rocky and Fred’s Creative Design Florist, went to the Ferrilli family at 344 38th Street (east unit). The Ferrilli’s love for Christmas was evident by their classic garland and wreath decorations as well as the many colorful lights they used to cover their home.
The following homes received honorable mention: Boyer (5301 Central Avenue), Gallagher/Scranton (5909-D Central Avenue), Kehner (107 33rd Street), Kirkpatrick (4473 Venicean Road), Lane (207 91st Street), Monichetti (215 43rd Street), Mullins/Denunzio (333 56th Street, west unit), Olivieri/Donat (209 48th Street), Pidgeon (217 43rd Street), Shroyer (134 45th Street) and Waldron (122 79th Street, east unit).
“It was a very close contest this year,” said Garden Club member Eleanor Moore. “The Blum home was spectacular, and it received a perfect score from all of the judges – I don’t think has ever happened before in this contest. All of the other homes in the contest were also very nicely decorated, and each one is worth seeing.”
