Sea Isle City’s Holiday Extravaganza was a Huge Success

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – During Thanksgiving Weekend, the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization (SICCCR), in cooperation with the City of Sea Isle City, hosted the resort’s 2nd Annual Holiday Extravaganza. The two-day event featured a festive parade, a tree lighting ceremony, live entertainment, free ice-skating, free refreshments, and plenty of holiday cheer.
The fun began at 5:00 p.m. on Friday evening, Nov. 29, with ice skating and a Christmas concert that delighted countless families at Excursion Park. Later, following a parade that included decorated fire engines from across the region and a float carrying Santa Claus, Mayor Leonard Desiderio led a tree Lighting Ceremony with the help of Santa and SICCCR President Christopher Glancey. After lighting the park’s giant Christmas tree, Santa spoke with many of the children in attendance and learned what items are on their Christmas wish-lists.
Those at Friday evening’s festivities also enjoyed free hot cocoa and cookies, courtesy of the Sea Isle City Taxpayers Association. There was also a booth manned my member of Boy Scout Troop 76, who sold hot dogs and other refreshments in support of their many scouting activities.
The winner of the parade’s Fire Engine Decorating Contest was the Fire District No.1 of Middle Township in Cape May Court House.
The fun continued on Nov. 30, with more free ice-skating and a Holiday Show featuring The Joanne Reagan Dancers, who performed a holiday dance routine at the Excursion Park Band Shell. After the dancers left the stage, Santa Claus held another “meet-and-greet” with children at the Band Shell.
The Boy Scouts from Troop 76 also returned to Excursion Park on Saturday to sell more hot dogs and snacks. Plus cookies and juice boxes were provided to children, courtesy of Wawa and Acme markets.
Also on Saturday, the SICCCR hosted a free raffle in honor of “Small Business Saturday.” The winner of the raffle, Jackie Edwardi, of Sea Isle City, received a flat-screen television after shopping in several local stores.
