Sea Isle City is the Place to be on July 4

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – Thanks to a variety of activities, Sea Isle City is the ideal location to celebrate Independence Day. To properly acknowledge our country’s beloved national holiday, City organizers and local business leaders will once again sponsor a series of events on July 4 that will delight people of all ages.
On Wed., July 4, at 9:30 a.m., boys and girls, ages 3-13, are invited to participate in Sea Isle City’s Annual Junior Olympics, which is sponsored by the City’s Department of Community Services and hosted by volunteers from the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City. During this free event, which has been taking place for decades, youngsters compete by age and gender in running, jumping and throwing contests while their loved-ones cheer from the sidelines. After the games are over, the first, second and third place winners in each race receive Olympic-style medals while standing on a three-tiered victory platform. The event lasts for about two hours. Families are reminded to bring hats, sunscreen and their cameras. Phone (609) 263-0050 to learn more about Sea Isle City’s Junior Olympics, or visit www.seaislecitynj.us.
Between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. on July 4, Gillian’s Funland Amusement Park, located in Sea Isle’s Marina District, 42nd Place and the Bay, will offer their weekly Wristband Wednesdays special, featuring unlimited ride passes for $20.00 each. After all, what would Independence Day be without a spin on a carousel? Phone (609) 263-1363 or visit www.gilliansfunland.com for more information about Wristband Wednesdays.
Also on July 4, Sea Isle City’s weekly Family Night Dance Party will take place at The Excursion Park Band Shell, JFK Boulevard and Pleasure Avenue, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. Music-lovers of all ages are invited to dance the night away under the stars during this free, family-friendly event. To learn more about the July 4th Family Night Dance Party, phone (609) 263-TOUR or visit www.seaislecitynj.us.
If you are looking forward to a pyrotechnics show on July 4, Sea Isle’s annual Independence Day Fireworks Display is not to be missed! In the past, the City’s fireworks have been launched from the Beach at JFK Boulevard. This year, the “rocket’s red glare” will be launched from an ocean barge anchored near Sea Isle’s 50th Street Beach, which will allow spectators to enjoy the plentiful seating at the Entertainment Complex at JFK Boulevard and elsewhere along the Promenade. Sea Isle City’s 2012 July 4th Fireworks Display will start at 9:00 p.m. If inclement weather is a factor, the fireworks may be slightly delayed until later in the evening or postponed until the event’s rain date of July 5. Visit www.seaislecitynj.us for updates on Sea Isle’s fireworks display.
