Sea Isle City Hosts Third Annual Holiday Extravaganza

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – On Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend, November 28-29, the Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization (SICCCR), in cooperation with the City of Sea Isle City, will host the resort’s 3nd Annual Holiday Extravaganza at the Excursion Park Band Shell, JFK Boulevard and Pleasure Avenue.
The two-day event will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 28, with free ice-skating until 9:30 p.m. The use of complementary ice-skates will be available for adults and children, courtesy of the SICCCR. There will also be live entertainment on Friday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. by The Aggie Becker Dance Company, the Lapelt Family and several contestants from this year’s Sea Isle City’s Got Talent competition. Then, the Extravaganza’s Holiday Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m., featuring a fleet of decorated fire engines from companies around the region as well as other participants – including Santa Claus, who will appear on a festive holiday float. The parade will begin on JFK Boulevard at Central Avenue and continue east on JFK to Excursion Park.
After arriving at Excursion Park, Saint Nick, Mayor Leonard Desiderio, SICCCR President Christopher Glancey and other local officials will present a trophy to the fire company with the evening’s best decorated engine. Then, at 7:00 p.m., Santa will light the Excursion Park Christmas tree, marking the official start of the Holiday Season in Sea Isle City.
After the Christmas tree is illuminated, youngsters will get the chance to personally speak with Santa Claus while families enjoy complementary hot cocoa and cookies, provided courtesy of the Sea Isle City Taxpayer’s Association. Hot dogs, freshly roasted nuts and other seasonal treats will also be available on Friday evening.
The fun will continue on Saturday, November 29, with more free ice-skating at Excursion Park between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. There will also be live entertainment by members of the Joanne Reagan Dance Studio on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by an additional meet-and-greet with Santa Claus from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m.
Children attending the Holiday Extravaganza on Saturday will receive free juice and cookies, courtesy of Wawa and Acme Food Markets respectively (while supplies last). Plus, Boy Scout Troop 76 will be selling hot dogs and other treats on Saturday.
On Saturday afternoon, the Chamber of Commerce and Revitalization will raffle-off a flat-screen television to one lucky retail customer in honor of “Small Business Saturday.” Shoppers at participating businesses throughout Sea Isle City on Saturday will be entered in the raffle (with required purchase), and the winner’s name will be drawn at the close of the Holiday Extravaganza.
In addition to launching Sea Isle’s 2014 Holiday Season, the Extravaganza will also give people the opportunity to make donations to Mayor Desiderio’s 22nd Annual Holiday Toy and Food Drive. Throughout the event, collection boxes will be positioned in Excursion Park, where unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items will be collected for families in need. As is the case each year, the Toy and Food Drive is a fine opportunity for everyone to participate in the true meaning of the season – giving.
