By Robert Dever Jr. Dever was born on Christmas.
‘Twas Christmas Eve,
and a starry night.
A sudden sound of clatter,
gave a child a fright.
He let out a startle,
and sat for a pause.
Then rushed out the room,
hoping to see Santa Claus.
Sure as he was,
standing by the tree.
With his bright red suit,
and his large belly.
Placing the presents,
Down, one by one.
The boy watched quietly,
Until he was done.
Santa turned around,
and looked the boy in the eye,
he gave him a wink,
then waved goodbye.
He zipped through the chimney,
quicker than light.
There was plenty for him to do,
on this wonderful night.
The boy left his spot,
and ran to the tree.
Where there was stacks of presents,
far as he could see.
On top of one gift,
there sat a small note.
It looked like something,
that Santa Clause wrote.
“Merry Christmas, dear boy,
you’ve been good all this year.
May every one of these gifts,
bring your family great cheer.”
“But please remember,
what most people have forgot.
it’s not all about receiving,
oh no, it is not.”
“Give more than you receive,
like God gave his Son to us,
that is the reason,
we celebrate Christmas.”
The boy put down the note,
and went back to his bed.
as Santa’s strong words,
repeated in his head.
He will spread the word later,
but for now he’ll sleep tight.
As Santa flies by again
to wish a good-night.
