SEA ISLE CITY – On Dec. 19, Sea Isle City’s VFW Post 1963 hosted their annual Christmas brunch with Santa Claus for local children. The free event was run by the VFW’s ladies auxiliary and other members of the organization, who welcomed over 50 children and their families to the VFW’s headquarters on JFK Boulevard.
As families entered the building, they were greeted by the aromas of a delicious hot brunch and the sounds of festive music filling the air. In addition to a hearty meal and plenty of holiday cheer, children also enjoyed having their faces painted, eating sweet treats and meeting the event’s featured guest, Santa Claus, who personally handed each child a wrapped Christmas present after hearing what items were on their wish lists.
According to VFW Commander Charles Haines, this was the fourth year the members of Post 1963 hosted the brunch.
“It was a very successful event, and the children really made it special for us,” said Haines. “Everyone enjoyed themselves, including one little boy who was so happy to be here, he ran up to sit on Santa’s lap three different times – it was very funny.
“John Farrell, the ladies auxiliary and the other members who ran the brunch did a great jobm,” added Haines.
