COURT HOUSE – A unique Christmas party for children will be held by the Performing Arts Center of Middle Township on the night of Fri., Dec. 16.
Snow will fall indoor on their heads, a special site will be designated for kids only to Christmas shop for their parents, and the children and their mothers and fathers are being invited to wear their best pajamas for the occasion.
The impetus for the event will be the showing of the popular movie, “Polar Express,” in which some of the children actors wear pajamas while traveling on a train. There also is a scene in which it is snowing. When that is shown on the PAC screen , theatrical snow will fall from the ceiling onto the children and their parents.
Also on that same night, for which festivities begin at 6 o’clock, PAC has set aside a room for children to shop exclusively for their parents. Merchandise will be available for the children to purchase for sums ranging from, $1 to $5. No parents will be admitted to the salesroom, but there will be adult supervision.
“We wanted to come up with something different for a Christmas party,” said Kay Aspell, managing director of PAC, “so we decided to use the magic of the theater to bring snow indoors and to make this a night for kids to personally shop for presents to place under the Christmas trees for their mothers and fathers.”
Although the event has been held before, this will be the first time that indoor snow will be manufactured for it and that children will be offered an opportunity to go on a shoppijg spree at PAC.
There is no admission charge, but a $5 donation is requested. Door prizes will be awarded. Call 463-1924 for further information.
