By Al Campbell

NORTH WILDWOOD — St. Patrick himself might have had a bit to do holding back the rain so the city’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade could be held March 16.
Joining the festivities were contingents from the Emerald Society of Cape May County, Irish Pipe Brigade of Wildwood, Irish Society of Cape May County, Knights of Columbus, Ancient Order of Hibernians and its ladies group, Wildwood Catholic HIgh School, Duffy String Band, and North Wildwood Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Council President Patrick Rosenello reminded those gathered at City Hall that this year’s would be the final one in which Mayor William Henfey would preside, as he will not seek reelection in November. Henfey, however, noted that he plans to be present at future parades.
Dolly McGee sang the national anthem of the United States and Ireland as well as God Bless America.
There were three parade marshals: Representing the Anglesea Irish Society, Jodie DiEduardo, Emerald Society Peg McQuaid and Ladies AOH, Pat Monaghan.
Deacon Joseph Pierce gave the Benediction that ended the ceremony and let the parade being north on Atlantic Avenue.
