‘New Years Eve in Egypt’ Will Delight Families Dec. 31

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY – Each year, Sea Isle City’s Municipal Alliance Committee, in cooperation with the resort’s Department of Recreation, hosts a New Year’s Eve celebration for children at the Sea Isle City Public School. The well-attended holiday gathering includes music, dancing, refreshments, kid’s activities and a “countdown to midnight.” Since the party takes place early in the evening on Dec. 31, parents can ring-in the New Year with their children and still get everyone to bed at a reasonable hour.
During Sea Isle’s New Year’s Eve celebration, the public school is cleverly decorated with an “Around the World” theme, which in the past has included such popular destinations as France and Italy. In 2010, families attending the event were asked to vote for one of several new foreign countries to honor in 2011. After tallying the votes, the Department of Recreation announced that the theme for this year’s celebration will be “Egypt.”
To ensure that everyone feels as though they are standing in the shadow of the Great Pyramids, City employees have created eye-catching scenery, decorations and interactive props with a distinctive Egyptian flare. Those attending the gathering on Dec. 31 will be delighted by a giant sarcophagus, sphinx and other Egyptian icons, which will make ideal backdrops for family photos.
“What a great night it’s going to be!” said Nicole Holt of Sea Isle’s Department of Recreation. “Our talented Public Works employees have created some amazing decorations that are straight out of Egypt. We can’t wait to see everyone’s faces when they walk into the party on New Year’s Eve!”
Sea Isle City’s 2011 New Year’s Eve in Egypt celebration, an anti-alcohol and anti-drug event, will take place on Dec. 31, 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., inside Sea Isle’s Public School, 46th Street and Park Road. The admission fee is one dessert per family. Pre-registration is required by Dec. 26. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.seasislecitynj.us. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Also on Dec. 31, the City of Sea Isle City will also host a New Year’s Eve Fireworks Display beginning at 8:00 p.m., JFK Boulevard and the Beach. For additional information about the New Year’s Eve in Egypt celebration or the evening’s pyrotechnics display, phone (609) 263-0050 or email sicrec@seaislecitynj.us.
