In a season of blessings, the Animal Welfare Society celebrates the good will of its volunteers and supporters. Even on Christmas morning, they will be rolling up their sleeves to comfort the animals in our care. We’ll do what we can to make the work fast and easy to accomplish by prefilling clean litter boxes and readying food bowls with some special foods.
Some volunteers will be able to whisk through what needs to be done and return to family traditions swiftly; others will spend some extra time fussing over the little souls waiting for homes. They will cuddle a little longer, walk a little father and stay a few more moments. What would we do without them?
So, at Christmas especially, but all year through, thank you to the everyday heroes of Animal Welfare Society, who keep their hearts open and their hands busy. Whether they walk dogs or clean cat cages, take photos or maintain the records, raise funds or make repairs, each of their actions is a vital contribution to a lifeline for animals.
Beyond hands on volunteers, local businesses lend their kind support with donated goods, services and counters or our donation cans. And, how could we do without the veterinarians who oversee the health and wellbeing of those waiting, waiting, waiting.
Our food bank could not exist without the generous support of those who stop with a couple of bags or cans of food. These donations help many pets stay with their families through some tough times. They never have to wait and wonder at a shelter.
We’re grateful to the people who purchase items from our thrift store allowing us to continue our work; we’re just as thankful to those who donate gently used items to be sold there.
In a year of construction and reconstruction, we are so thankful for those who helped us shuffle things around to welcome a newer Animal Welfare Society where the dog pens have been upgraded and the cats can now roam free. If you haven’t already, visit us to see all the changes your kind support has built.
And, if it is in your heart, welcome a homeless cat or dog into your life this holiday. Not only will you be helping them, you will bring love and joy into your life.
Merry Christmas to all. Remember to hug your pet, it’s the best friend you’ll ever have!
