Lower Celebrates Independence Day with July 3 Bash

NORTH CAPE MAY – Celebrate Independence Day one day early with a big bang in Lower Township along the bay front.
Fireworks blasting over the bay, four live bands, food items from ice cream to crab cakes and amusement rides are all a part of Lower Township’s Independence Day Festival, July 3 beginning at 5 p.m.
The Lower Township Department of Parks and Recreation presents its annual Independence Day celebration the day before July 4 along Bay Drive in North Cape May and Town Bank from Lincoln Avenue to Browning Avenue.
A 30-minute fireworks show will be launched from an offshore barge at 9 p.m.
A variety of food items will be available from caramel corn to steak from 65 vendors.
Inflatable games will be available including football and a pitching machine. Two areas off Bay Drive will have amusement rides for children available for a nominal fee.
Four bands will entertain: “M80,” a 80s tribute band, “Thirsty Wilson,” a six piece rock band, “Back to Life,” a pop/rock trio and the Trilby String Band from the Philadelphia Mummer’s Parade which will march along Bay Drive and stage a performance in front of Harpoon Henry’s restaurant.
“Lower Township is proud to continue this tradition of top flight entertainment, top flight fireworks and the best sunsets in New Jersey,” stated Jim Ridgway, assistant superintendent of parks and recreation.
Bay Drive will be closed from Pinewood Avenue to Lincoln Boulevard from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. A section of Bay Drive from Townbank Road to Lincoln will close at 2 p.m.
