MAYHUGH PALMER TEES
Dear Santa,
I know you must be busy
As Christmas is drawing near.
You must have loads of orders,
And you’re picking our reindeer.
Well, I don’t want to burden you,
With a long Christmas list,
Santa, for Christmas
Won’t you just give me this:
A new star in the heavens
That will be a sign
That something special is happening
Somewhere, somehow, sometime.
But if you cannot give a star
Then maybe instead
You’ll heal someone I love
And raise him from his bed.
Yet healing is something
Way out of your line
So maybe you’ll give me guidance
That I may not go blind.
Guidance needs a guide
And you’re a busy man.
You haven’t the time to spend.
You’re doing the best you can.
Well, I guess there’s no sense asking
For you to give me one more thing…
A feeling that inside of me
That will rise up like a spring.
Nor, can I ask you, either,
To give me life eternally.
These are items not in your bag,
So there’s nothing left for me.
Dear Santa, don’t you worry,
It’s not your fault at all.
I know that what I really need
Started in a stall.
A baby born in a manger,
God’s Son declared of He,
And that star that led the Wise men
Is shining over me.
He grew up and healed and guided
And filled people like a spring,
And to all who rest their faith in Him,
Eternal life He’ll bring.
So Santa, don’t be anxious
About a gift for me this year.
I have the most important gift.
Jesus Christ is here.
