Let’s Go See the Christmas

By Herald Staff

By Diane Haslem, Court House.
(This is how, in the far future, Christmas had been banned and eventually forgotten, except for a few who bring it back.)
Let’s go see the Christmas,
I hear it came to town!
They say it’s down on Main Street,
Everyone is gathering around!
It’s the miracle of the season
This Christmas that I hear.
A message that is awakening
The hearts of those far and near.
The Christmas speaks of hope,
Salvation, grace and love.
It all begins with a Child
That came from Heaven above.
I’m here now at the Christmas
So many gathered around!
The look of hope on their faces
Is so touchingly profound.
The Christmas is there before me
A beautiful sight to behold.
On a bed of hay, there lay a Babe
He is our hope we are told.
I want to know more about this Christmas
This Child upon the hay
And the message that He carries
And what He has to say.
They had taken away the Christmas
Many years ago.
Nothing could be displayed,
Nothing allowed to show.
Some people were offended,
Angry and upset.
So Christmas was banned
We all started to forget.
Now looking upon the Christmas
With the crowd gathered around
Standing in the falling snow
Not one making a sound.
A woman steps from the crowd
And stands next to the Christmas,
“I asked for you to come here,”
She says, “I want you to listen.”
“Far too long we haven’t had Christmas,
There is emptiness in our soul,
The message surrounding this Child
Will certainly fill that hole.
“He comes promising salvation,
This Child before you tonight,
He came to save the world,
And give us eternal life.”
She opened an old book,
A Bible, we were told,
And read a lovely story
Of this Babe from long ago.*
She told of mangers and shepherds
And angels in the night
Who sang “Glory be to God!”
And filled the sky with light.
It’s the miracle of the season
This Christmas that I hear,
A message that has awakened
These hearts, it’s now so clear!
